Hoshino Resorts Tomamu - Unkai Terrace

The Hoshino Resorts Tomamu boasts an observation deck where you can marvel at the dynamic sea of clouds up close. It's open exclusively in the early mornings from May to October, when the sea of clouds typically appears. When the meteorological conditions align, a magnificent sea of clouds flows over the mountains, offering truly heavenly views. The deck gives you the sensation of floating amidst the clouds, making you feel as though you're embarking on a voyage across a sea of mist.

To reach the "Unkai Terrace," one must take the Unkai Gondola. After a roughly 13-minute aerial journey, you arrive at the mountain station situated at an altitude of 1,088m. From its highest point, roughly 12m up, you can enjoy panoramic views of the vast sea of clouds and the Hidaka mountain range. The on-site "Cloud Cafe" offers cloud-themed drinks and sweets that are a hit with visitors.

The terrace features six unique decks along the mountain path, each offering different perspectives of the stunning scenery. The "Cloud Walk" is structured like a suspension bridge, swaying slightly as you walk, evoking the sensation of strolling atop the clouds. Other popular spots include the "Cloud Pool", resembling a massive hammock, and the "Cloud Bar", designed with a bar counter concept.
