Kishigon Ryokan
A Taisho-era romantic ryokan where you can enjoy Ikaho’s famed hot springs across 13 baths.
A long-established ryokan where you can enjoy 13 baths in total, including a large public bath, open-air baths, private baths, and a footbath. Loved by artist Takehisa Yumeji and other cultural figures, the inn still preserves the atmosphere of Japan’s Taisho era throughout.
A skin-friendly hot spring source known as “Kogane no Yu (Golden Water)” springs up near the ryokan, so you can fully savor these renowned waters. The standout is “Gonzaemon no Yu,” the ryokan’s signature bath inspired by ukiyo-e. This all-hinoki open-air bath lets you soak while enjoying seasonal scenery, from fresh early-summer greenery to autumn foliage. Rooms range from Japanese-style and Western-style to hybrid Japanese-Western options. Rooms with sweeping views of Mt. Akagi and Mt. Haruna are especially popular.
Dinner centers on local ingredients such as Akagi beef, Joshu beef, seasonal vegetables, mountain greens, and river fish, prepared simply to bring out the natural flavors. Fresh seafood, delivered every morning from Toyosu Market in Tokyo, is another highlight. For breakfast, enjoy a Japanese-Western buffet focused on local produce, including Gunma brand pork sausages and bacon, plus the region’s specialty konnyaku dishes.
