Surrounded by the rich natural beauty of the highlands - including Mount Akita-Komagatake, celebrated as one of the “New 100 Flower Mountains,” and Lake Tazawa at its base - this is a day-use hot spring facility set in an idyllic alpine environment. Its mountain-lodge-style exterior makes it easy to spot, and walking paths have been developed in the surrounding area for leisurely strolls.

The sulfur spring, characterized by floating mineral deposits and its distinctive sulfur aroma, is well known for its heat-retaining properties that keep the body warm even after bathing. The men’s bath features a relaxing hiba-wood tub with a soothing woody scent, while the women’s bath offers a stone-built rock bath. Both are simple in layout, with one indoor bath and one open-air bath, yet the outdoor bath in particular boasts spectacular panoramic views of Lake Tazawa and the surrounding mountains stretching out below.

During the green season, private vehicle access to Mount Akita-Komagatake is restricted, and on regulated days, visitors can take a bus from the boarding area near the facility entrance up to the 8th station of the mountain. The building also houses the Akita-Komagatake Information Center, making it a popular base for hikers - whether stopping by before a climb or soaking in the hot spring afterward to soothe tired muscles.
