Kuzumaki Highland Ranch

Kuzumaki Highland Ranch is one of Japan's largest public ranches set up at a spot 650 meters above sea level. With peaceful scenes of sheep grazing, it’s a top-rated sightseeing spot in Iwate Prefecture, offering a wide variety of dairy farming and ranch activities.

Many ranch fans plan a trip here for the chance to feed calf and cattle (reservations required). Guided by ranch staff, visitors can learn about the life cycle of beef cattle, highlighting the ranch’s emphasis on the preciousness of life. An animal corner also allows guests to interact closely with cows, alpacas, ponies, rabbits, goats, and sheep.

After your ranch activities, head to the on-site restaurant, featuring dishes made with carefully raised Japanese beef. Don't miss the rare Kuzumaki Highland Beef, produced in very limited numbers (only about 30 cows annually), making it a delicacy seldom found elsewhere. Also, be sure to visit the barbecue house (open weekends and holidays only) and the bakery offering completely additive-free bread made with fresh Kuzumaki Highland Milk.
