Umi Shokudo Kujukuri Warehouse
A renovated former seafood processing plant where you can enjoy Kujukuri’s specialty, grilled hamaguri clams.
A dining spot on Kujukuri Beach, one of Japan’s largest sandy shorelines, where you can enjoy fresh seafood grilled over a wire mesh.
Kujukuri Beach and other coastal areas of Chiba Prefecture are famous for hamaguri clams. Chiba’s hamaguri are known for their large, meaty texture and concentrated umami. Here, you grill these clams and other fresh seafood on the tabletop grill and enjoy them right at your table.
The space is distinctive, too: it’s a renovated property that used to be a seafood processing plant facing Kujukuri Beach. Inside, the wood-built interior is spacious and designed for a relaxed, comfortable meal. From the second-floor seating, you can take in sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean—an outstanding setting.
The menu features grilled seasonal items, plus plenty of izakaya-style dishes like simmered whole golden eye snapper and assorted tempura. Another must-try specialty is their “iwashi no kusare sushi.” For lunch, there are three set meals, including a daily special, offering great value for fresh seafood. Served until 3:00pm, it’s also perfect for a late lunch.
