Located in Chuo Park in Kurume, Fukuoka, the Kurume City Bird Center is a unique spot home to Approx. 80 species and 420 animals.

The biggest eye-catcher is the Approx. 70 Indian peafowl. Their vibrant colors are stunning when they spread their feathers, and in the specially designed “Flying Cage,” you can watch them gracefully walking overhead. In the dedicated aviary, you can enjoy a close, unhurried look at their beauty and behavior.

At the Central Dome (Suikin-sha), you can see the great white pelican, whose wingspan reaches 2–3 meters when fully spread, as well as geese relaxing by the water. At the crane enclosure, you can also admire the graceful red-crowned crane, a nationally designated Natural Monument.

There’s also a feeding experience with squirrel monkeys, and from Sunday afternoon, there are events where you can interact with and observe guinea pigs.

The grounds also include an amusement area with rides like a Ferris wheel and merry-go-round, plus a display of a D51 steam locomotive. There are picnic spots and open areas where kids can run around freely, making it packed with family-friendly fun.
