Grill Ippei Shinkaichi Main Store

Founded in 1952, Grill Ippei is one of Kobe’s most beloved Western-style restaurants. Although the original building was destroyed in the 1995 Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, the restaurant was revived thanks to the support of the local community. Now run by the fourth generation, it has continued to preserve its time-honored flavors for over 70 years.

The restaurant’s hallmark is its secret demi-glace sauce—a rich, well-balanced blend of sweetness, acidity, and depth. Made with Awaji Island onions, carefully selected meats and vegetables, and a recipe passed down through generations, the sauce is simmered over five days to perfection. It pairs beautifully with the signature filet beef cutlet, a must-try dish. The omelet rice is also a popular favorite, featuring both the demi-glace and a house-made ketchup-based “red sauce.”
