Asahiyama Park

A lush, green park at the foot of Mt. Asahi, located in eastern Asahikawa, Hokkaido. It sits at an elevation of Approx. 295 m, and from inside the park you can take in sweeping views of downtown Asahikawa and the surrounding mountains.

It’s also known for its well-preserved natural woodland. In spring, Approx. 3,500 Ezo-yamazakura cherry trees burst into bloom, making it a popular cherry-blossom viewing spot that draws big crowds. In summer, you can enjoy a stroll while cooling off under the lush trees, and in autumn, fall foliage colors the park, letting you take in the beauty of nature in every season.

Inside the park, there’s a snack shop with seating, perfect for a break during your walk. Don’t miss local favorites like the “Giga-size Parfait,” packed with soft-serve in a 1-liter cup, and the “Mega-size Soft Serve,” standing over 20 cm tall!

The nationally popular Asahiyama Zoo is right next door, so it’s worth stopping by as well. Re-entry is allowed, so it’s a great idea to take a break in the park’s shade and then head back to the zoo.
