Niigata Science Museum
A wide variety of hands-on exhibits for both kids and adults to enjoy!
A large hands-on science museum where you can learn about science as a whole, from familiar everyday things to outer space, while having fun.
Inside, the museum is made up of four exhibition areas: “Science of Nature,” “Science of Daily Life,” “Wonder Plaza,” and “Changes in Niigata Prefecture.” Each area features interactive exhibits, making it fun to experience the wonders of science. You can also see the Parent and Child Dinosaur Maiasaura Theater, where life-size dinosaurs come to life, view stuffed crested ibises, and try exhibits that let you experience how wind power generation works.
In addition to the exhibition areas, the large planetarium with an 18 m dome and the outdoor exhibition area are also must-sees. The planetarium screens powerful digital programs as well as live programs in which astronomy guides introduce the night sky of the day.
