A Traditional Inn with Panoramic Views of the Echigo Plain and the Yahiko Mountain Range, Hoh

A Japanese-style ryokan founded in the early Meiji era in Iwamuro Onsen, Niigata’s historic hot spring retreat.

Founded in the early Meiji era, this long-established ryokan stands in Iwamuro Onsen, Niigata’s historic hot spring retreat with 300 years of history. At the spacious large public bath and open-air bath, among the largest in the area, guests can fully enjoy Iwamuro Onsen’s signature dark hot spring water flowing directly from the source. The mineral stone bath “Arashi no Yu,” which warms the body to its core with steam from 15 types of natural minerals, is also well known.

There are 50 guest rooms in total, mainly traditional Japanese-style rooms built in shoin-zukuri style. Many rooms look out over the 3,000-tsubo garden and the Yahiko Mountain Range, letting guests enjoy the changing expressions of the Japanese garden and satoyama landscape through the seasons and throughout the day without leaving their room. The inn also offers dog-friendly rooms and baby item rentals to accommodate a wide range of needs.

Meals feature creative Japanese set menus made with the bounty of Niigata’s mountains and sea. Dinner is a course meal with generous servings of fresh seafood from the Sea of Japan, while breakfast is a Japanese set meal centered on local dishes. The breakfast rice tasting comparison of three major Niigata rice brands is especially popular and unique to this famous rice-producing region.
