Hotel Sun Rural Ogata
Enjoy a plant-derived moor hot spring and countryside views at this hotel on a vast reclaimed plain.
Located in Ogata Village, Akita, a place created through the reclamation of Lake Hachirogata, this hotel is popular for its rare plant-derived moor hot spring, unlike the more common volcanic hot springs.
The amber-colored water, formed from seawater from Approx. 5 million years ago that rose up as stratum water, is rich in plant-based organic matter that accumulated underground. Known for its smooth feel and excellent skin-beautifying effects, this hot spring is said to warm you to the core even with a short soak. In addition to the top-floor panoramic public bath with sweeping views of the vast countryside and the Shirakami Mountains, guests can also use the adjacent day-use bathing facility, "Polder Kata no Yu," free of charge, where a variety of baths are available.
Several dinner plans are available, including options featuring luxurious local ingredients such as Akita Nishiki beef and beni-zuwai snow crab from Oga, as well as plans where you can enjoy Akita specialties such as kiritanpo hot pot and Inaniwa udon. An authentic Chinese course meal is also available. Guest rooms are available in five types, including Western-style and Japanese-style rooms, and the large windows offer impressive views and a bright, open feel.
