Kishiwada City Gofuso
Enjoy a meal while overlooking a beautiful Japanese garden from this charming Japanese-style building.
Standing along the moat of Kishiwada Castle, Gofuso is known for its Japanese-style architecture designated as a tangible cultural property by Kishiwada City. It was built in the early Showa period as a villa for the head family of the former Terada zaibatsu and reopened in 2019 as a traditional Japanese restaurant.
The restaurant serves Japanese cuisine made with seasonal ingredients from each time of year. At lunch, you can enjoy reasonably priced set meals, while dinner features kaiseki courses as well as hot pot dishes made with carefully selected ingredients from across Japan, including Kobe beef, sea bream, and fugu hot pot. There is also a kids' lunch with favorites such as hamburger steak and omurice, making it a great choice for families. The rooms include a large hall, private rooms, and even a kura storehouse.
The vast grounds, covering Approx. 2,400 tsubo, feature a strolling Japanese garden with yukimi stone lanterns, a 13-story stone pagoda, and three tea rooms scattered throughout. Cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves in fall give the garden a different look with each season. In addition to enjoying the garden view while dining, the garden is also open to the public, so anyone can stroll through it freely.
