Iki Retreat Kairi Murakami by Onko Chishin is a lodging facility in Iki City, Nagasaki Prefecture. This hot spring ryokan stands on Iki Island, off the Genkai Sea in northern Kyushu. In the 2019 Michelin Guide, it was the only lodging on a remote Japanese island to be selected for 5 Pavilions.

One of the inn’s biggest draws is that every guest room has an ocean view. From the windows, you can look out over the sweeping seascape of Yumoto Bay. Each room also comes with a free-flowing natural hot spring open-air bath. You can enjoy the hot spring anytime during your stay. The baths use water from Yumoto Onsen, known for its distinctive quality that appears golden when exposed to the air. The property also has a large public bath and a spa, where you can unwind with hot springs and body treatments.

The cuisine features kaiseki meals made with local ingredients unique to Iki Island. Dishes include natural abalone, sea urchin, Iki beef, and seasonal ingredients at their peak. Paired with Iki shochu and local sake, you can savor the flavors of the island. This luxury inn offers a relaxing stay in a calm setting while you enjoy fine hot springs and exceptional cuisine.
