A vast urban park where you can enjoy beautiful scenery in every season. Around Takamatsu Pond at the center of the park is a well-maintained walking path of Approx. 1.4 km, making it perfect for jogging or walking, with a full loop taking only about 20 minutes even at a leisurely pace. Enjoy the ever-changing seasonal views around the pond and birdwatching while spending a relaxing time here.

It is also known as one of the prefecture’s top cherry blossom spots and has been selected as one of the 100 Best Cherry Blossom Spots in Japan, a designation given to only two locations in Iwate Prefecture. During cherry blossom season, from late April to early May each year, the Sakura Festival is held, and the area around the pond fills with large numbers of visitors enjoying hanami.

Seasonal flowers are also one of the highlights, including the peony garden, best seen from mid-May to late May each year, and the rose garden, where more than 40 varieties of roses are planted.

Other attractions include rowboats available from spring to fall, a playground for toddlers and children, an artificial pond with a maximum depth of 20 cm where kids can splash around in summer, and a multipurpose lawn plaza perfect for relaxing.
