If you're looking for somewhere relaxing to stroll around in Yokohama, Motomachi Shopping Street is a great choice! Unlike a typical large shopping mall, the street is lined with unique little shops, cafes, restaurants, and home goods stores. It's very pleasant to walk along, with a charming international atmosphere.

It's also right next to Yokohama Chinatown, so the two spots make the perfect "shopping + eating" combination. After exploring Motomachi, you can walk over to Chinatown for some soup dumplings and steamed meat buns. It's a great itinerary! However, we arrived a little too early this time, and many stores hadn't opened yet. We could only walk around and take pictures, so we missed out on much of the fun of "seeing something we liked and going in to browse."

I recommend coming in the afternoon and combining it with a visit to Chinatown. After eating, you can take your time shopping, and the timing will work out better.

The street is clean and has a European vibe—feels like strolling through a small town in Europe. There are lots of unique Japanese brands and specialty shops, like leather goods, accessories, and stylish cafés. It's never too crowded, so the atmosphere is really relaxed. Perfect for a slow stroll, sipping coffee, and soaking up Yokohama's elegance.
