This tree is absolutely massive! After 1,600 years, it's still standing tall and full of life. I believe it's thanks to all the care and effort put into it!

Legend has it that Emperor Ojin personally planted this tree when he visited Shodoshima. During the Edo period, it was considered one of the island's most iconic giant trees. 👍

Hoshoin has the largest Japanese cypress in Japan! Each tree is over 1,600 years old.
