Hakucho Bridge

Spanning across Muroran City in Hokkaido, the Hakucho Bridge is the largest suspension bridge in eastern Japan, stretching 1,380 meters in length. Opened in 1998, it serves as a vital transportation link connecting Jinyamachi and Shukutsucho across Muroran Port. The bridge was named “Hakucho” (meaning “swan”) after the many swans that once migrated to Muroran Bay, formerly known as “Swan Bay.”

Driving across this bridge feels really nice. The view is super wide and open, and it totally has that Hokkaido vibe. Honestly, it's just as impressive as any big bridge overseas.

Inasa no Hama (Inasa Beach)

A 15-minute walk from Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine to the west will take you to a 2km-long beach. The appealing view of white sand and green pine trees puts t into the best 100 beaches in Japan.

Itsukushima Shrine

Itsukushima Shrine stands on the island of Itsukushima, which is also known as the island of gods. It is said that the shrine was founded in 593 by Saeki no Kuramoto, and the 3 goddess “Ichikishimahime-no-Mikoto,” “Tagorihime-no-Mikoto,” and “Tagitsuhime-no-Mikoto” are enshrined there. Famous for granting a wide list of benefits, these three goddesses as are worshipped as the goddesses of the sea, transportation, fortune, and art.

Fukuroda Onsen, Omoide Romankan

Omoide Romankan is peacefully located amid the nature of Okukujki, where you can enjoy visiting one of Japan's three most famous waterfalls, Fukuroda Falls, in just a 3-minute drive. In addition to the falls, the neighborhood offers other interesting sightseeing spots, such as the National Hitachi Seaside Park, Mount Tsukuba and Mount Yamizo, which are ideal for hiking, as well as the Kairakuen Garden known for its ume plum blossoms.

The room was a bit old but still pretty clean. Dinner was plentiful, and there's a small stream next to the open-air bath. The hot spring experience was fantastic.
