Senshu Park
Akita Domain, The ruins of Kubota Castle of the Satake clan, was developed into a large castle site park covering an area of 16.29 hectares. The restored Omonogashira Gobansho, the restored castle's Osumi-yagura Tower, the front gate, and other features gives off the atmosphere of the feudal domain era.
It's really close to the station, so you don't have to walk far. The cherry blossoms are beautiful and the park is well maintained—perfect for a stroll.
Shibamata Taishakuten Sando
Katsushika Shibamata has been chosen by the country itself as one of Japan’s iconic scenic spots. It’s also no exaggeration to say that Shibamata Taishakuten and its approach are iconic parts of Tokyo’s shitamachi (old town) areas that possess striking atmosphere and appearance.
This old street has been around for over a hundred years. The little things they sell are really eye-catching.
Tower of Osaka Castle
Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who unified the country during the Azuchi-Momoyama period (1568-1600), began construction of the tower of Osaka Castle in 1583 and completed it in 1585. The castle was later destroyed during the Osaka Natsu no Jin（summer campaign of Osaka） in 1615, but was rebuilt by the Tokugawa Shogunate in 1626. However, the castle keep was destroyed by lightning in 1665. In 1931, the castle tower of the Toyotomi period was reconstructed with donations from Osaka citizens.
You can take a boat ride and see the castle tower from different angles. The building is really well preserved.
Lake Suwa
Located almost in the center of Nagano Prefecture, Lake Suwa is the largest lake in the prefecture, with a circumference of about 16 km and surrounded by mountains. Along its nature-rich shores, fully developed cycling and jogging paths allow visitors to enjoy the beautiful scenery. The area is also home to numerous attractions, including visiting all four shrines of Suwa Taisha, appreciating art at museums, and soaking in hot springs with views of the lake.
From July to September, you’ll see lots of people strolling around in yukata at night. It’s a really nice vibe.
Kobe Kitano Ijinkan (Former Foreign Residences)
When the port of Kobe opened in 1868, the "Kobe Kitano Ijin-gai (foreign city)" developed as a land of foreign settlement. Located on a hill overlooking the ocean, the town has a unique mix of Western and Japanese style buildings. About 30 Western-style buildings have been preserved in their original state, and 16 are open to the public.
This place is full of European vibes, with lots of romantic European-style buildings and decorations.
Yamashita Park
Yamashita Park is located by the sea, just a short walk from Yokohama Chinatown. It was opened in March of 1930, reclaiming the waterfront using rubble caused by the Great Kanto Earthquake.
This park has an amazing ocean view and is really spacious. Sitting on a bench, watching the ships and people go by, is super relaxing and peaceful.
Chuson-ji Temple
Chuson-ji Temple, founded in 850 AD, owns over 3,000 national treasures and important cultural properties and is also registered as a World Heritage site. This temple was built to transmit the powerful wish to comfort the spirits of those killed in the Tohoku War, no matter which side they were on.
This is a fantastic place. The whole temple area is surrounded by nature, making it so peaceful and hard to leave.
Tokyo Disneyland
Known and loved as the “kingdom of dreams and magic”, this full-scale themepark is just a 15 min. train ride from Tokyo Station.
A must-visit spot if you’re traveling in Tokyo! Everything is so cute and dreamy, and there’s so much to buy. Definitely get a Fast Pass, or you’ll spend the whole day waiting in lines.
