Stepping out of the quaint Mojiko Station, you’re greeted by the Mojiko Retro district, filled with the romantic atmosphere of the Taisho era. Once a bustling international trade port, its streets are lined with a captivating mix of Western-style historic buildings.
From the amusing and adorable Banana Man statues, which have deep ties to Taiwan, to the Former Moji Mitsui Club and the distinctively designed Former Osaka Shosen Building, each historic Western-style building seems to have its own unique story. It’s worth slowing down to appreciate them. I highly recommend setting aside half a day to stroll around and explore while enjoying the relaxed atmosphere created by the sea breeze and nostalgic architecture.
