Studio Tour Tokyo - The Making of Harry Potter" is an all-new walk-through entertainment hub that brings all the behind-the-scenes magic of the "Harry Potter" and "Fantastic Beasts" series to center stage. Here, the elaborate sets and props created by the producers of the "Harry Potter" series will transport you into the riveting world of magic. To usher you along the way, here’s a breakdown of all the magic to expect as you go!
To the Great Hall of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
Your journey starts with Harry, Ron, and Hermione, waiting to greet you.
This room is lined with movie posters. Ready to draw you back into your favorite memories from the films. “Oh yeah, I remember that happened!” you’ll begin to think as you stroll through the look and feel of each scene.
After a quick video where Harry and his friends share stories from behind-the-scenes, its time to move towards the Great Hall. Open the grand door to find an unforgettable space dotted with floating candles and white flying owls, right before your eyes. As you stand you might even remember this is the same spot and scene where Harry nervously awaited which house he would finally join. What’s more, Dumbledore, Professor Snape, Professor McGonagall and Hagrid are even there to see you.
The Grand Hall was modeled after Christ Church at Oxford University, giving the interior an authentic flair that nods to British history and traditions.
From the Great Hall to the common rooms where Hogwarts' characters gather
Once you've immersed yourself in the world of Harry Potter in the Great Hall, the next stop is a glimpse into the common rooms for each house. The "Gryffindor Common Room," where Harry, Ron, and Hermione shared so many a chat is decorated with antique furniture, red sofas and warm, cozy trimmings. A fun fact from the movies, the room was so cozy it became a common place for the movie actors and staff to unwind.
In contract, there’s even the Slytherin Common Room, decorated with plenty of cool-tone vibes.
The teal hued space gives off a chill and sense like you can almost see Draco and his friends having a chat.
This set was originally made to be a basement dungeon cell, but was also repurposed as a room where Harry came up against Lord Voldemort, and even a trophy room.
On the other side, you'll find the set for the boys' dormitory. Inside you’ll find Harry and Ron’s beds, and in Ron’s space you’ll even find personal effects like Quidditch posters and other items that lean into each character’s personality.
Get lost in the excitement! Quidditch filming corner
In the movies, the Quidditch matches were a non-stop show of speedy, exciting scenes. There’s nothing quite like the players taking up the brooms before soaring the skies. Not to mention, the cheers of the crowd as the looked on from below!
At the Quidditch filming corner you can join in the match firsthand as a spectator. Cheer along and lose yourself in the excitement as you become one with the crowd. After words, your scenes will be compiled with the original, making it look as if you were there at the filming of the movie.
To top it off, there are a number of different Quiddich-related corners, giving you a glimpse of just how important a role the sport played in the movies.
To the ever-popular office of Dumbledore
Sat deep within the highest tower of Hogwarts Castle awaits the loungeroom of Headmaster Dumbledore. The room is treated with book-lined shelves and shelves for astronomical tools and gadgets, sharing just a hint of the many things known by Dumbledore.
Just steps away there’s even the Pensieve used by the headmaster when reproducing memories. Peer inside and you may even catch a look at Tom Riddle, before he declared himself Lord Voldemort, appearing and vanishing beneath tendrils of white smoke. It was these very images in the Pensieve that served as a such a crucial key to unlocking the story’s many mysteries.
Repel Death Eaters with a magical experience!
Be sure to swing by the classrooms where professors like Snape and Lockhart lectured.
The Potions Room, lined with numerous herb bottles, is meticulously recreated down to each label.
In the Defense Against the Dark Arts Classroom, you can even take up the chance to grab a wand and try your hand at a few genuine defense spells. This particular room recreates the classroom from the third Harry Potter movie, the Prisoner of Azkaban. Practice the spell and the flick of the wand before casting out the Death Eaters!
Kick back with a butter beer and a commemorative photo!
Butterbeer, the magical brew that everyone knows and loves from Harry Potter. It may look like beer, but its actually non-alcoholic and made with a mellow sweetness. Just as you may start to feel a little tired, you’ll find yourself in front of this corner where you can enjoy a tasty Butterbeer. There’s even an outdoor terrace space for you to kick back and relax.
Look around and see a number of commemorative photos around, like images of the Dursley’s house, where Harry lived before arriving at Hogwarts, the Knight Bus, the flying car, Hagrid’s sidecar and the Hogwart’s bridge.
Before stepping outside, take one last chance to recharge at Backlot Café for a taste of British cuisine and sweets from the movies.

At the Backlot Cafe halfway through, you can enjoy not only British cuisine like the Gryffindor™ Plate (Roast Beef) and Slytherin™ Plate (Bangers & Mash), but also Hedwig™ Cake.
Endless Thrills! Board the Hogwarts Express!
The train platform where the famed, magical adventure-bound steam locomotive stops is engulfed with a sense of fun journey’s ahead. Once aboard the Hogwarts Express you’ll find familiar moments of Harry and Ron boarding with sweets, and the flying car zooming pass he train windows.
On the opposite side of the steam locomotive, there are places to film scenes escaping to Platform 9 3/4, the most well-known scene in the Harry Potter series, and the Railway Shop, which sells limited edition merchandise.
Pop into the Ministry of Magic or Try Flying a Broomstick!
The set of the Ministry of Magic is said to be one of the most time-consuming and large-scale ones. The office building, with its striking green and red tiles, was modeled after buildings from the Victorian era, when the British Empire flourished. There's also a massive fireplace, the entrance through which staff come and go from the Ministry of Magic, which you can try popping into with Floo Powder. The finished scene of you appearing with green smoke is then made into a video for you to enjoy.
There’s even a broomstick experience corner, where you can create original footage of you flying around on a broomstick via green screen technology. The synthesized video data and prints is available for you to purchase afterwards.
The magnificent details of Diagon Alley and Hogwarts Castle!
Diagon Alley, a crucial locale in the movies, includes a prank shop run by the Weasley twins, George and Fred. A large statue that moves when you take off your hat is how you know you’re in the right spot. Here you’ll find a number of fun shops like Ollivanders, which sells unique wands for wizards, and Eeylops Owl Emporium, where Hagrid gave Harry a white owl as a present.
In addition, you're sure to be blown away by the realistic detail of the model of Hogwarts Castle, offering you a glimpse into the world of magical creatures and so much more.
Shopping for souvenirs, a bite and a break at the shop.
After touring behind the scenes, swing by the Studio Tour Shop for a bit of shopping for unique goods that appear in the movies. Home to the largest Harry Potter shop in the world, this spot has a selection of over 7,000 items, including wands, sweets, cloaks, and stuffed animals. The shop is actually located by the entrance, giving you the chance to buy a cloak or wand to use in any photos you snap inside.
There’s even merch from MinaLima, the creators who greatly influenced the world of the Harry Potter series, with goodies like candy packaging and Hogwarts textbooks.
As an extra special treat, why not enjoy sweets inspired by the magical world at the Frog Cafe?
Near the entrance, alongside the Frog Cafe, there's also a Food Hall where you can eat fish & chips and British-style breakfast!
