One of its defining features is how major local stores, shopping arcades, and businesses come together to transform the entire area into a stage, centered around the area near Kokura Station, the banks of the Murasaki River, and Ogai Bridge.

The stone-paved streets and gaslight-style scenery blend with the night view, creating a nostalgic, romantic atmosphere that feels as if it transcends time.
One of the highlights is the collaboration between historic buildings built from the Meiji to Showa periods and the lights reflected on the harbor water.

The Approx. 15m-tall symbol tree is decorated with Mario and his friends in holiday designs, while the “LED SKY WALK” on the second-floor pedestrian deck features video displays of the characters moving around.

An illumination event held at Bayside Place Hakata on the waterfront in Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City.
Centered around the palm trees lining Bayside Street, the entire facility is decorated with Approx. 300,000 LED lights, creating a light arcade with a tropical atmosphere.
The deck fences and other areas are adorned with delicate decorations, blending with the illumination of the adjacent Hakata Port Tower to create a romantic night view unique to a port town.

The biggest highlight is a grand ground art display created with 10,000 candles arranged outdoors.
The motif is created each year based on a design selected from public submissions, and the 2025 theme is “A Happy Christmas Connected by Light.”
The design measures Approx. 100m by 100m, and the warmth of real flames offers a moving experience different from electric illuminations.
The gently flickering candle art has a calming effect, while illuminated fountains and attractions throughout the park bathe the nighttime grounds in a mysterious glow.

“Christmas Advent” (November 1–December 25, 2025) is a major event held at 12 locations across Fukuoka Prefecture.
