The Utsunomiya Zoo in the northern part of Utsunomiya City emphasizes their special close-up exhibition of animals. The zoo has a theme of “Nature, animal, and kids” and making an effort to education, e.g., teaching kids that different communication rules apply to each animal.
The zoo is a home to 400 animals of 90 species, including ferocious animals such as Amur tigers and lions, herbivores such as giraffes and elephants, monkeys, birds, reptiles, and small animals. Nakayoshi Land gives you an opportunity to touch smaller animals like rabbits and guinea pigs. You can feed giraffes and elephants, too, by purchasing their snacks at the zoo shop.
An amusement park is attached to the park, providing another fun activity for families, with a Ferris wheel and a lion roller coaster. The children's pool in summer and the trout fishing pond in winter are also popular. Enjoy a great time together with the whole family!
Also, stop by the store for many interesting items, like sweet stuffed animals and zoo cookies, and don’t forget to try the café for lunch and a rest.
