In 1988, this railway was opened to cover the east side of Shimousa Peninsula along the Isumi River, serving local riders for many years. The total distance is 26.8km (17 miles) from the starting station to the last 14th station. Along the railroad, there are power spots such as Izumo Taisha Kazusa preaching hall and Kuniyoshi Shrine, or tourism sites such as Natural Gas Memorial and Okita Castle. Hop on the one-man train and get off as inspired to enjoy local discoveries.

On holidays, tour expresses run regularly. What people love is the dining car (16,000 yen, reservation required). Seated in the retro diesel car, watching the scenery passing by, and you can enjoy gourmet dishes crafted by chefs from the restaurants along the railroad.

For a train trip, the boxed lunch from the station adds more fun, which is available at Ohara Station only on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. There are few sold to the public, but to make sure, make a reservation on the phone at Kasaya Shoten, 0470-86-3535. *Between 10-days prior until Thursday of your travel week.
