A 420-meter-long arcade shopping street in the center of Kure City. In 1990, Japan's first retractable arcade was installed.

In the shopping district, there are many restaurants that serve gourmet specialties that you must try when visiting Kure. These include the original "meat and potatoes" restaurant, which features green peas, the spicy "gansu" fish cutlets, thin udon noodles, and Kure cold noodles!

There are also a variety of other gourmet foods to eat. Fukuzumi is known for its fried manju (steamed buns) called "fry cake," which has been a favorite snack of Kure locals since its opening after World War II; Bikkuri Manju (steamed buns) from Bikkuri-do are filled with three kinds of red bean paste; and Subaru Coffee Shop sells "navy coffee," a classic Kure souvenir that recreates the coffee the crew of the battleship Yamato drank. The shopping street is dotted with spots that are a must-see when visiting Kure. The sidewalks of the shopping street are lined with benches, so you can buy a fry cake at Fukuzumi, take out a café au lait at Subaru Coffee Honten, and take a break on one of the benches. There are also many Japanese and Western-style confectionary stores in the vicinity of the shopping arcade, so be sure to check out the specialties of each store.
