Dalian Friendship Memorial Hall (Former International Friendship Memorial Library)
A replica of a historic Meiji-era building, symbolizing the friendship between Kitakyushu and Dalian.
The cities of Kitakyushu and Dalian, China, have long been connected by international shipping routes and have enjoyed active exchanges. To commemorate the 15th anniversary of their sister-city relationship, the Dalian Friendship Memorial Hall was constructed.
The three-story building, with its striking contrast of brown and white tiles, is a faithful replica of the Eastern Qing Railway Shipping Office, originally built by the Russian Empire in Dalian in 1902. Distinctive features such as the chimneys and decorative dormer windows reflect the architectural style of the time.
The first floor houses “Dalian Akashia”, a Chinese restaurant where guests can enjoy authentic flavors at reasonable prices. The second floor serves as an information corner introducing Dalian and also as a relaxation and交流 space, freely open to both locals and visitors.
It is one of the historic buildings that make up the “Mojiko Retro” area surrounding JR Mojiko Station. Many tourists explore it alongside nearby attractions such as the Mojiko Retro Observation Room, Blue Wing Moji, and the Idemitsu Museum of Arts, Moji.
