Murou Art Forest

Located in the valley of a forest near Murouji Temple, famous for its rhododendron flowers. The project, started in 1997 as part of the "Muro Art Arcadia Plan" focusing on harmony between nature and culture and regional revitalization. Designed under the supervision of the late sculptor Bukichi Inoue, a local artist, and the renowned sculptor Dani Karavan, known worldwide for his spatial design, the project was completed in 2006.

On the expansive 7.8-hectare site, 12 art objects are displayed. Unique installations include the "Island of the Sun," created on the latitude of 34 degrees 32 minutes where many temples and shrines, including Murouji Temple, stand, and the "Bamboo forest of Spiral," where visitors descend underground via spiral stairs and return to the surface through a tunnel-like passage.

Other features include a lake and islands for birdwatching, offering visitors the opportunity to experience Murou's charm, long connected with nature, through their senses.
