Yugayamaenchi (Old Yamaguchi Clan Nanto Residence Garden)

This 1.3 ha parkland is located at the southern end of Nara Park, south of Ukimido and Sagi-ike Pond. The park was additionally designated as a national cultural property, "Nara Park of Scenic Beauty," in 1927, as a place with a spectacular view of Mt. This area was once the villa of Kichirobei Yamaguchi, who was active in the Osaka business world during the Meiji and Taisho periods, and there is historical evidence that writers and artists once exchanged with each other here.

The garden in the park is one of the representative gardens of modern Nara Park, and after restoration and maintenance by the prefecture, it will be open to the public from 2020. The garden has a pathway that takes advantage of the undulations of Yugayama.

From the hill, visitors can enjoy the symbolic view of Mt. Wakakusa and Tobihino, and think back to the writers and artists who would have admired this scenery in the past. The tea house built by Kichiroubei Yamaguchi has been recreated and can be used for meetings and tea ceremonies (reservations are required and charged). The park is also equipped with lodging and dining facilities.
