Nakamura Tokichi Honten, Uji Main Store

Founded in 1854, the first year of the Ansei era, this tea specialty store is located in Uji, a region nationally renowned for its high-quality Japanese tea. The store continues to deliver fine teas that are chosen for their flavor rather than their appearance or form. This includes their exclusive Nakamura tea, a smooth yet refreshing green tea, as well as their invigorating sencha and rich, flavorful gyokuro.

The café, housed in a converted tea factory, offers an array of sweets made from their prized Uji tea and matcha. Their signature dish, the "Namacha Jelly (Matcha)," captures the rich taste and aroma of premium tea leaves in a smooth, silky jelly, complemented by subtly sweet adzuki beans and shiratama. The "Maruto Parfait (Matcha)," exclusive to the main store and served in a bamboo tube, is a generous serving of namacha jelly, matcha castella cake, matcha ice cream, and a special whipped cream.
