Last update :

Deai Bridge is a 107-meter-long suspension bridge that leads to the Shirakawa-go gassho-zukuri village, a registered World Heritage site. The bridge connects the convenient public parking area, 'Village-Operated Sesaragi Park Parking Lot', to the village, and crossing the bridge brings you to the entrance of the village. It spans over the wide Sho River, and the view of the river from the bridge is beautiful. The bridge is not far above the river surface, providing a sense of freedom as you cross and feel the clear flow of the Sho River beneath.

The bridge won the Grand Prize at the Japan Society of Civil Engineers Design Awards in 2003, and its simple design blends well with the gassho-zukuri village and the surrounding landscape. Made of concrete, the bridge can sway slightly when many people cross at the same time, adding to the thrill. Enjoy the beautiful flow of the Sho River and the scenery of the surrounding mountains as you walk towards the World Heritage village with anticipation.
