A beautiful park counted among the "Three Great Cherry Blossom Spots of Japan."

Established around the ruins of Takato Castle, which was demolished during the Meiji Restoration in 1871. The park became famous for its cherry blossoms when former retainers of the Takato domain transplanted cherry trees, leading to its recognition as one of the "Three Great Cherry Blossom Spots of Japan," alongside Hirosaki Park in Aomori Prefecture and Mount Yoshino in Nara Prefecture.

The park features approximately 1,500 Takato Kohigan Sakura trees, some of which are over 140 years old, reaching their peak bloom in early April each year. Takato Kohigan Sakura is a unique species native to Takato, characterized by its slightly smaller size and deep red flowers. During the flowering season, the cherry blossoms are illuminated at night, offering a charming atmosphere different from daytime viewing.

Historical structures such as the Takato Pavilion, designated as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property by the national government, and the wholesale gate relocated from the castle town, are preserved within the park, offering a pleasant setting for leisurely strolls. Visitors flock to the park not only during cherry blossom season but also to admire the lush greenery of summer and the vibrant autumn foliage.
