Japan’s Best Starry Sky, Namiai Park
One of Japan’s leading stargazing spots, with a breathtaking star-filled sky.
Located in the lush mountains at an elevation of Approx. 1,200 m, this is a renowned stargazing spot where you can relax and enjoy a night sky known as “Japan’s Best Starry Sky.” Inside the park, a “Stargazing Event” is held every night, where you can view seasonal stars while enjoying constellation commentary and stories about the stars from a stargazing guide. No reservation is required to join, but entry may not be available when the venue is full, so booking in advance is recommended.
The fully reservation-only paid viewing deck is equipped with two reclining chairs, allowing you to comfortably enjoy the stars and moon directly overhead. One pair of binoculars can also be rented free of charge, so you can take your time enjoying the magnificent starry sky spread out above for extended periods. Black curtains are installed on all four sides to block light, making it recommended for astronomical observation and time-lapse video filming as well.
There is also a wide selection of rental telescopes and binoculars for more serious observation. In addition, the park offers a variety of stargazing activities to experience different ways of enjoying the night sky. Seasonal events and workshops, including bonfires and hammocks, are also held.
