Nakatsugawa Valley is located along the upper reaches of the Nakatsugawa River, which originates from Mount Azuma and flows into Lake Akimoto. Stretching about 10 kilometers, a look out over the valley reveals waterfalls, rapids, steep cliffs and amazingly start contrasts of eroded rocks against crystal-clear flowing waters. Its lush, damp-looking primeval forests further enhance the area's secluded, mystical charm.

Renowned as one of Urabandai’s best spots for autumn foliage, the valley dazzles visitors each fall with vivid gradients of red and yellow leaves. The striking combination of colorful leaves against light-gray rock formations and pristine streams draws many eager sightseers each yaer. During summer, the valley offers beautiful greenery and comfortably cool temperatures, making it an ideal spot to escape the heat.

Visitors can easily access the valley via stairs next to the Nakatsugawa Valley Rest House, which has its own parking area. While the view from the bridge is breathtaking, the experience of dipping your feet into the clear waters and gazing upward at the surrounding scenery is equally stunning.
