A long-established ryokan with a 370-year history in Atsumi Onsen, Yamagata Prefecture, an area long known for its famous hot springs. Standing along the clear Atsumi River and surrounded by the soothing sound of flowing water and beautiful mountains, this inn offers a peaceful, relaxing stay with a Japanese garden, a pond filled with colorful koi, and seasonal flowers in bloom.

Atsumi Onsen, beloved by literary figures and artists, is well known as a therapeutic hot spring. The women’s bath features a cypress open-air bath, while the men’s bath has a stone open-air bath. Goldfish swim in the pond around the women’s outdoor bath, making it popular with children as well. In addition, the two private open-air baths with scenic views are equipped with baby-friendly amenities, so families can bathe with peace of mind.

The 76 guest rooms come in a wide variety of styles, including Japanese-style rooms, Western-style rooms, and detached villas. Rooms with semi-open-air baths also offer a private bathing experience. Some rooms are also stocked with baby amenities.

Dinner features dishes generously prepared with Yamagata’s local bounty, including Yamagata beef and fresh seafood from the Sea of Japan. Another nice point is that you can choose a plan with dining in the main dining area or in a private dining room. Breakfast in the dining area is a Japanese set meal served with a mini buffet.
