Set among Asumui, a chain of four rocky peaks at the northernmost tip of Okinawa Main Island, this hiking experience lets visitors discover the mysteries of Ryukyu mythology and nature. Asumui is described in Chuzan Seikan, Okinawa’s oldest historical record, as the first place created by the gods of the Ryukyu creation myth, and several sacred prayer sites still remain here today. The area also offers plenty of natural highlights, including rare plants and animals unique to the specially protected area of Yambaru National Park, as well as dramatic karst landscapes.

Courses are available in 30-minute, 60-minute, and 90-minute options to suit your fitness level and schedule. Admission includes free drinks and access to the audio guide service, and you can explore the forest of Ryukyu mythology on foot while taking drink breaks at the lounge that serves as the base for each walking course. Audio commentary is available at each point, so you will not miss any highlights. The grounds are designated as a specially protected area of a national park, and within the area are the Stone Museum, themed around Okinawan stones, and the restaurant Nantoya, both recommended stops after your walk. At the restaurant, you can enjoy dishes made with locally harvested medicinal herbs.
