Ocean Expo Churaumi Fireworks Festival

One of Okinawa Prefecture’s largest fireworks festivals, this event is held at Ocean Expo Park and Emerald Beach in Motobu Town. It has a history of more than 40 years, counting from its predecessor, the Ocean Expo Park Fireworks Festival, and has been known by its current name since 2025.

The biggest highlight is its spectacular scale, with Approx. 10,000 fireworks vividly lighting up Okinawa’s sea and night sky. It is usually held on a Saturday in early July, with fireworks launched one after another for an hour. The open feel of Emerald Beach, with its wide stretch of white sand, adds to the appeal, and you can enjoy the fireworks reflected on the water along with the sound of the waves.

The festival is held as the main event of the Ocean Expo Park Summer Festival. In addition to the fireworks, free admission to the Ocean Expo Park Tropical Dream Center and planetarium screenings at the Oceanic Culture Museum are also planned.

The large-scale star mine finale is a yearly tradition. Along with performances synchronized to music, 2025 also featured an experimental “silent fireworks” display designed to let visitors appreciate the sound and lingering resonance of the fireworks themselves. Please note that all seats in the beach area are paid viewing seats.
