Founded in 1972 in Aizuwakamatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture, Tontei is a specialty restaurant for sauce katsudon. The key to its flavor is the secret “Tontei Special Sauce,” which has been continuously added to since the restaurant first opened. It is known as a familiar taste that everyone in Aizu has tried at least once.

The “Sauce Katsu Ju” and “Sauce Katsudon” offer rich, savory flavor. In both dishes, the “Tontei Special Sauce,” infused with the umami of the meat, makes the pork even more flavorful. Both are generous in portion size, making them highly satisfying choices. Aizu is also known as the setting of a historical TV drama, and at Tontei you can also find dishes inspired by it, such as the “Yae Umasso Sauce Katsudon.”

The restaurant has a calm Japanese-style interior that makes it easy to visit with family. There is also a parking lot directly across from the restaurant. The surrounding area is dotted with Aizu’s history and offers a feel for everyday life in Aizu. It is also a convenient base for sightseeing.
