In 2023, a new passenger terminal building opened, integrating domestic and international terminal functions. It introduced the latest facilities to help reduce congestion, including self-check-in machines and smart lanes. It has also been praised for its user-first convenience, with amenities such as a kids’ space for families and workspaces for business travelers.

In 2024, the new “Sorayoka Area” opened, offering fun even for people who are not flying. The area consists of three facilities: “Sorayoka Park,” an open plaza that hosts various events, “Sorayoka Dining,” with a wide range of gourmet options, and the “Sorayoka Visitor Center,” which introduces appealing travel ideas in Kyushu and Kumamoto. In addition to its role as infrastructure, it is also drawing attention as a great place to visit.
