This park sits atop Mt. Nabekanmuri in Nagasaki’s Minamiyamate district. Located about a 10-minute walk from Glover Garden’s second gate, the area has long been affectionately known as “Nabekaburi-yama,” or “inverted pot mountain,” for its rounded, pot-like shape, embraced by lush greenery.

The observation deck was renovated in 2016 and now extends outward, thoughtfully designed so visitors can enjoy different perspectives depending on the angle. Though its elevation of 169 meters is more modest than Mount Inasa, it offers a wonderfully close and three-dimensional view of Nagasaki’s characteristic bowl-shaped landscape, along with sweeping vistas of the city and Nagasaki Port. From the deck, you can take in a variety of sights, including the Megami Bridge, the Glover Residence, Hashima (Battleship Island), and the comings and goings of cruise ships. The night view in particular is truly spectacular, living up to Nagasaki’s reputation as one of the “New Three Best Night Views in the World,” with sparkling lights spreading out below like a sea of jewels.

Access is convenient, whether by bus and a short walk from Nagasaki Shinchi Terminal, or via the Glover Sky Road from Ishibashi tram stop. From daytime scenes of the harbor and city to the softly glowing lights at dusk and night, each visit reveals a different and captivating panorama.

  • I actually prefer this place over Mt. Inasa. It's less crowded and the view feels much more relaxing.
