The restaurant created champon and sara udon dishes.

Last update :

Champon is a Japanese noodle dish based on a similar dish from Fujian Province, China, the hometown of the first owner of the Shikairou Chinese Restaurant. Champon is topped with local seafood and a lot of seasonal vegetables and has been a favorite for more than a century in the Nagasaki region. It has long been a famous signature dish of the area.

The delicious flavor comes from slowly cooking the soup, making using of a fresh whole chicken and pork bones. This pure white soup with its pleasant flavorful taste goes perfectly with special thick noodles. Along with champon, another specialty is sara udon. This dish, too, is said to have originated at this restaurant and is characterized by its thin, crispy noodles without any soup. The Nagasaki locals generally pour on a special dark sauce, and it is a very popular dish along with champon. It is said there are more than 1,000 restaurants serving champon and sara udon in Nagasaki City alone.
