Izu Panorama Park
One of Izu’s finest scenic terraces, reached by ropeway, with sweeping views of Mt. Fuji and Suruga Bay.
A sightseeing facility spread across the summit of Mt. Katsuragi, a scenic viewpoint overlooking Suruga Bay and Mt. Fuji. A ropeway with a one-way distance of Approx. 1,800 m connects the foot of the mountain with the 452 m summit, giving visitors quick access to this spectacular area in about 7 minutes through the air.
At the summit, Ao Terrace features deck terraces, sofa seating, counters, and more, all offering sweeping views of Mt. Fuji and Suruga Bay. At Sky Garden by Ao Terrace, the new Aqua Ring area has opened. An oval-shaped wooden walkway surrounds the central plaza, with a reflecting pool around the outer edge, creating a new scenic spot where visitors can enjoy an unprecedented sense of floating. The area also includes an observation deck and walking paths, making it easy to enjoy the scenery in an even more open setting. There is also a tea house and a coffee shop where you can relax with drinks and sweets. At the foot of the mountain, you’ll also find a restaurant and shops, perfect for enjoying Izu cuisine and picking up souvenirs.
Another appeal is how the scenery changes with the seasons. Spring brings cherry blossoms, summer is wrapped in greenery, and autumn colors the mountain with vibrant leaves. In winter, snow-capped Mt. Fuji stands out clearly in the crisp air, in a beauty that makes you want to reach for your camera. No matter how many times you visit, there is always a new view waiting for you. As the ropeway carries you up, take in the natural beauty of Izu and the vast open sky with all your senses.
