Folk and traditional crafts that have been passed down in Kumamoto for generations are also highly recommended, including Higo zogan and Shodai ware, both designated as traditional crafts by the Japanese government, as well as Amakusa ceramics made from Amakusa pottery stone quarried in Amakusa City.
