Last update :

These are the ruins of a residence built on a hill about 90 meters high by the Chomei clan, who ruled this area from the medieval period onward. Today, the site has been developed as a historical park and is also known as Kazenoko Park, where local residents come to relax.

A lookout has been set up on the scenic hill, where visitors can enjoy wide-open views of Izumi Ward and, in the distance, a sweeping panorama that reaches as far as Sendai Port and Nanatsumori. In early spring, clusters of katakuri flowers bloom here, making it a great spot for nature observation.

Also known as a famous cherry blossom spot, the park turns a vivid pink in spring. The spacious lawn area is well maintained and makes an excellent place for cherry blossom viewing. Many cherry trees are also planted around the lookout, so you can enjoy both the city view and cherry blossoms in full bloom at the same time. Along with katakuri flowers and cherry blossoms, the site is rich in seasonal plant life throughout the year, and despite being close to the city center, it offers a calm atmosphere where history and nature are in harmony.

There aren’t actually any buildings left on site anymore. It feels more like a small historical ruin with an open space. The main draw is the atmosphere rather than the site itself.
It’s very quiet around here, and there aren’t many people. Walking in, you get a feeling of being cut off from the outside world.
