Hodoai no Yado Roppokan
An inn where you can enjoy hot springs known as the “double skin-beautifying bath.”
A hot spring inn in Harazuru Onsen, which first opened in the early Meiji era. Founded in 1885, the name “Roppokan” reflects its setting surrounded by six of Kyushu’s most iconic mountains, meaning “an inn with views of six peaks.”
The waters of Harazuru Onsen are known as the “double skin-beautifying bath,” combining an alkaline simple hot spring, which is expected to remove old keratin and help clear the skin, with a simple sulfur spring. The inn features the scenic View Garden Open-Air Bath and Mikage Open-Air Bath on the 4th floor, as well as the Cypress Bath and Bamboo Charcoal Bath on the 1st floor, with the men’s and women’s baths rotating daily.
The guest rooms come in a variety of Japanese and Western styles, and all overlook the Chikugo River and peaceful rural scenery. Options include rooms with a cypress bath, semi-open-air bath, and even dog-friendly rooms, so you can choose the one that suits your stay.
For dinner, guests can enjoy luxurious dishes crafted with seasonal ingredients and expert technique. Breakfast includes a basket-style set with a main dish, along with simmered dishes, house-made pickles, fruit, vegetable salad, and other items perfect for starting the day.
