Tottori City Historical Museum Yamabiko-kan
Explore the history and culture of Tottori from ancient times to the present.
This museum introduces the history and culture of Tottori City. Easily accessible from JR Tottori Station by the 100-yen loop bus, it draws many local residents and tourists throughout the year.
A highlight of the permanent exhibition room is how it presents the history of Tottori City from the Jomon period to the present day in a systematic, easy-to-understand way. On display are earthenware excavated from archaeological sites, important documents from the Sengoku period, and materials from the Edo period.
There is also plenty to see, including a diorama recreating the troop formations during Hashiba Hideyoshi's attack on Tottori Castle and a mini theater that explains an overview of the city's history along with cultural properties and famous places. For international visitors, a free audio guide is also available in three languages: English, Chinese, and Korean.
You can also enjoy special and themed exhibitions held several times a year, as well as shopping at the museum shop, which carries original goods.
