Last update :

A scenic natural destination located at the heart of Kita-Nagato Kaigan Quasi-National Park. It is known for sea caves, cliffs, and unusual rock formations shaped by erosion from the rough waves of the Sea of Japan, earning it the nickname “Alps of the Sea.” The dramatic natural beauty stretching along the coastline is a highlight unique to this area.

You can enjoy the island’s scenery from land by walking along the Omi Island Nature Trail, or from the sea aboard the Omi Island sightseeing cruise. The walking trail offers courses that take from 20 to 60 minutes, letting you take your time observing the unusual rock formations and cliffs while looking down over the coastline from higher ground.

The sightseeing cruise offers an even more dynamic view of the towering rock walls and the depth of the sea caves. From the boat, you can enjoy close-up views of angles not visible from land and of rocks jutting out over the sea. When the waves are calm, the boat may also pass through a cave opening. Depending on the course, the trip takes Approx. 50 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes.
