The signature product of Imo-ya Kinjiro, a sweet potato confectionery specialist from Kochi, this traditional imo kenpi is made using methods refined since the company’s founding. It contains just three ingredients: sweet potatoes, oil, and sugar. The Koganesengan sweet potatoes are grown in partnership with contracted farmers in Kagoshima, Kochi, and other parts of Japan. Fried in Kinjiro Oil, an original blend of premium canola and rice oils, and coated in granulated sugar syrup, these sweet potato sticks have a fragrant flavor and crisp texture. Their refined sweetness makes them hard to stop eating despite their simplicity.

They come in small and large bags ideal for souvenirs, as well as generous cans. Other varieties include salted, black sesame, and seasonal brown sugar imo kenpi. The popular Sweet Potato Chips offer a different texture from imo kenpi and are made by thinly slicing and frying Beni Haruka sweet potatoes.

Imo-ya Kinjiro has stores across Shikoku and Kyushu, as well as in Tokyo, Osaka, and elsewhere, with its main store located in Hidaka Village, Kochi Prefecture. Specially Selected Imo Kenpi is also available from the online store.
