A souvenir brought by a coworker from Fukuoka. If I remember correctly, the manju had a smooth white bean paste filling, and the milky flavor blended very well with the aroma of the bean paste. The outer layer was soft and not dry, and the sweetness was fairly pronounced. It combines Japanese wagashi with a Western-style milky flavor, but I’d still recommend having it with tea or coffee so it doesn’t feel too rich.

I really like white bean paste, but this was a bit too sweet for me. So I bought some as souvenirs and had them with tea for an afternoon snack. My coworkers loved them!

You can find this famous sweet from Meigetsudo at pretty much every souvenir shop in Hakata Station. It's definitely the most well-known treat around!

Hakata Torimon makes a great souvenir—there are so many options, and everyone loves them, no matter their age! The ones made with domestic red beans are especially good, kind of like kusa mochi or mochi with sesame. 👍

Meigetsudo started in 1929 and their manju has become one of the best-selling in the world! I definitely recommend this as a souvenir for friends.
