Sakurajima
Sakurajima is an active composite volcano located in Kagoshima Bay. It is a symbol of Kagoshima, and part of Kirishima-Yaku National Park. The volcano began to form around 26,000 years ago, and it has had 17 major eruptions.
The island's volcanic craters, lava flows, and cones really showcase the power and beauty of nature. Standing near the edge of the crater, looking down at the rising smoke, I was truly amazed by the force and endless charm of the natural world.
Ogikubo
Ogikubo is located about 10 minutes from Shinjuku Station on the JR Chuo Line and is also the first stop on the Tokyo Metro line and the first stop on many bus routes, making Ogikubo Station a convenient starting point for sightseeing in Tokyo. Ogikubo is also known as a hot battleground for ramen, with many famous stores and restaurants scattered around the station. It is a town that ramen lovers will not be able to resist.
The station connects directly to Lumine and Town Seven shopping malls. There’s also Seiyu, MUJI, and some chain cafes and shops. Super convenient for daily life.
Ginzan Onsen
This hot spring resort was developed along with the Nobesawa Silver Mine which prospered in the Edo Period. After the mine was closed, it was turned into a therapeutic onsen resort until a flood destroyed it in 1913. By early Showa Period, local businesses have helped restore the village close to the current landscape with western-style wooden multi-story buildings on either side of Ginzan River.
The old street of Ginzan Onsen was actually used as a background in Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away. It's awesome to soak your feet in the hot spring here during the cold winter.
Sendai Castle Ruins (Aoba Castle)
Sendai Castle was built by order of the lord Date Masamune. Commonly called "Aoba Castle," it has been the center of the clan government for 270 years.
A must-visit historical site when you come to Sendai!
Koiwai Farm
The farm covers a vast area at the foot of Mt. Iwate, spanning Shizukuishi-cho and Takizawa city, and is involved in a variety of businesses, including dairy farming, forestry, food, and tourism.
The farm-made ice cream and cheesecake here are super tasty.
