Azumaya Honten

Wanko Soba, along with Jajamen and Reimen, forms the trio of famous Morioka noodles, making it a must-try delicacy when visiting Iwate. Azumaya, established in 1907, is a long-standing soba restaurant that has preserved the tradition of Wanko Soba in Morioka. Situated in Nakanohashi-dori, a location still rich with the ambiance of a castle town and surrounded by historical buildings, it's an ideal stop for tourists, never lacking in visitors seeking its flavors.

Rokusei Soufflé & café corner SATEI

Known for its "te wo ke bento" (bento in a wooden bucket.), the long-established Kyoto cuisine restaurant "Rokusei" is located just west of Heian Shrine. In a setting that exudes the essence of Kyoto, they serve visually stunning Kyoto cuisine made with seasonal ingredients. Inside the restaurant, there is a Soufflé Café Corner, and the soufflés available during café time are one of the highlights.

Kanmon Bridge

Opened in 1973, Kanmon Bridge is a suspension bridge connecting Moji in Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, with Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Spanning the Kanmon Straits, the bridge measures 1,068 meters in total length and was the longest bridge in Asia at the time of its completion. It forms part of an expressway linking Mojiko IC and Shimonoseki IC, and is open only to motor vehicles (excluding vehicles not permitted on expressways).

Yokosuka Port

Since the Meiji era (1868-1912), Yokosuka has been developed as one of Japan's leading military ports. Today, Yokosuka is home to the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force and the U.S. Navy's Seventh Fleet, and the U.S. aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan is also deployed there. On the other hand, long-distance ferries depart from Yokosuka Shinko Port to Moji Port in Kyushu.

The Miyagi Museum of Art

This art museum stands by the Hirose River which runs through Sendai City. It consists of the main hall and the Sato Churyo (a sculptor from Miyagi) Memorial Hall to the west. The main hall was designed by Kunio Maekawa, a master of modernist architecture.

Tsukioka Onsen

To the east of Echigo Heiya, in the city of Shibata is Niigata’s most famous hot springs. It opened in 1915. It is a regular placeholder in “Japan’s 100 Hot Springs”. The source spring is a low alkaline water containing sulfur. It has an emerald green (sometimes milky white), which makes people think it's an artificial bath. It is called “Bijin-no-yu (hot springs for beautiful women) “, as the source spring is good for maintaining the skin, and bathers often come out with smooth skin.

Higashi-tenno Okazaki Shrine

In the 13th year of the Enryaku era (794), when Emperor Kanmu relocated the capital from Nagaoka-kyo to Heian-kyo, this shrine was one of the four erected at each corner of the capital to protect the royal city. Due to its location in the direction of the rising sun (east, direction of the rabbit in the Chinese zodiac), it was named "Higashi-tenno" (Eastern Heavenly King).

Misumi West Port

Misumi West Port was opened in 1887 as an export point for coal sourced from Miike Coal Mine. It’s one of the 3 biggest ports built in the Meiji Era and the only one of which to still remain today in its original form since its building approximately 100 year ago. In 2015 it received UNESCO World Heritage status as of one of the Sites of Japan’s Meiji Industrial Revolution.

Otaguro Park is established on the former residence of the music critic, Otaguro Motoo (1893-1979). In 1981, the park was made public.

Ishikawa Prefectural Budokan Kyudo field (Japanese archery field)

Kanazawa is rich in samurai culture and has a particularly close relationship with Kyudo (Japanese archery) among the martial arts. The "Sanjusangen-do no Toshi-Ya”, an annual event in Kyoto where newly-arrived adults and those with excellent archery skills gather from all over Japan, is said to have originated in the Edo period when samurai warriors were allowed to compete in archery.
