As soon as you walk into Sunroad Shinshigai, you immediately get that feeling of everyday local life in Japan. It doesn’t feel like one of those places meant just for tourists.

Asahiyama Park
A lush, green park at the foot of Mt. Asahi, located in eastern Asahikawa, Hokkaido. It sits at an elevation of Approx. 295 m, and from inside the park you can take in sweeping views of downtown Asahikawa and the surrounding mountains. It’s also known for its well-preserved natural woodland. In spring, Approx. 3,500 Ezo-yamazakura cherry trees burst into bloom, making it a popular cherry-blossom viewing spot that draws big crowds.
Not many people, so it’s really comfortable to walk around.
On a nice day the views are pretty great. Perfect for a quiet stroll and just zoning out.
It’s not a lively, bustling spot, but it feels super relaxing and healing. -
Katsurahama Aquarium
Located on the shores of the iconic Katsurahama Beach in Kochi Prefecture, this aquarium offers breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. Popular among all age groups, it provides numerous interactive feeding experiences, allowing visitors to observe and learn about marine life up close, engaging all the senses.
It’s a super relaxed place to walk around—no crowds at all. The animals are really close to the visitors, so kids will love it. The whole place feels kind of simple and a bit old-fashioned, but that actually gives it a nice local vibe. It’s perfect to stop by while taking a stroll around Katsurahama.

Located beneath Nidec Kyoto Tower, the landmark facing Kyoto Station, KYOTO TOWER SANDO is a lively complex that brings together food, souvenirs, and cultural experiences under one roof. The facility features a basement food hall, a first-floor market, and a second-floor workshop area, making it a hub for both international visitors and locals to enjoy Kyoto’s finest flavors, crafts, and traditions.
There are tons of local Kyoto snacks, sweets, and souvenir shops here. You can find things like yatsuhashi, matcha treats, and cute little items. Downstairs, there's a food court where you can grab ramen, sushi, or just have some coffee. The place is really clean and air-conditioned, so it's super comfortable to walk around. The vibe is way more relaxed than a department store. It's perfect for dropping by, picking up some souvenirs, or just taking a break before heading up to the Kyoto Tower observation deck.
